DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1: Gauteng to Madikwe

Leaving the metropolis of Johannesburg, our journey to Madikwe Game Reserve takes around 4-5 hours. We will arrive in the afternoon and briefly get to settle in at the lodge before we depart on our first real Madikwe encounter – a game drive with a qualified ranger. This Big 5 reserve offers many surprises with its exciting wildlife count so we will spend a few hours enjoying the surroundings before returning to the lodge after dark where a sumptuous dinner awaits us.

Today we’re up early, before dawn, where we will enjoy a quick tea or coffee before heading out on our second game drive. This is an ideal time in which to observe animals as they are most active during this period, getting in some good viewing before the midday heat sets in.

Breakfast awaits us upon our arrival back at the lodge. The following several hours will be spent at your own leisure – relaxing by the pool, immersing yourself in a good book or just enjoying the rest of the lodge’s facilities. After a hearty lunch and a bit more relaxation, we embark on our late-afternoon game drive which may continue beyond dusk, with the day invariably ending over a good dinner and reminiscing about the day’s sightings.

Another early start sees us embarking on our final game drive through the reserve, hopefully with some memorable sightings to round off our stay. Upon returning to the lodge we will enjoy breakfast before departing the lodge and Madikwe.
