CONSERVATION & COMMUNITY

Musekese Conservation
A full-time ranger team works on anti-poaching activities and assists with research into indicator species, lions, hyenas, wild dogs, leopards and cheetahs. Community engagement includes women’s empowerment programmes in conservation and education on human encroachment, burning habitats and the hardwood trade. Assist with wildlife and habitat management and working closely with key stakeholders

OVERVIEW

This is the sort of place where you might not even have to leave camp to see the game: being unfenced and near a prolific lagoon means animals wander past at will and game viewing can be enjoyed from the tents! Leopard and lion are well presented (taking advantage of the puku) with growing cheetah and wild dog populations.

In June, canoeing is possible in the Kafue River and its tributaries while several highly qualified walking guides can take you out to Chibembe Pan. Boating is always exciting and keen photographers will appreciate the customised vehicles. Named after the monkey bread tree in the Kaonde language, Musekese is a top-notch bush camp in northern Kafue National Park ideal for adventurous travellers.
