Full board is included in the four-night, five-day Pilanesberg National Park package by Biggestleaf Travel, as well as transfers to and from Johannesburg. Every morning and late afternoon during the trip, we will depart on game drives to explore this protected South African gem. Aside from the possibility of spotting the famous Big 5, guests may also catch a sighting of one of the many other plains game and bird species which inhabit the reserve.

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1: Gauteng to Pilanesberg

The commute to Pilanesberg National Park takes around 2-3 hours. The scenic route leading out of the bustling hub of Johannesburg will see us arrive in time for lunch at our lodge for the night, where we will spend the afternoon relaxing before embarking on a late-afternoon game drive.

Exploring the reserve in an open vehicle is an excellent way to get familiar with the denizens of the bushveld and surroundings. Being a Big 5 reserve, we are hopeful of catching a few exciting sightings before returning to the lodge after sundown – where a delicious dinner awaits us to round off our day.

The next three days will be absolute bliss. Waking up early each morning for game drives will hopefully return some spectacular game viewing, with potential glimpses of nocturnal animals retreating as the day sets in and other big game waking up for the day. Each day will offer something different, and by the time we settle back at the lodge for breakfast we will be buzzing from our outdoors excursion. Late mornings and early afternoons will be spent at our leisure, partaking in the lodge’s additional activities or just relaxing in the suite.
As the late afternoon arrives we will get ready for our evening game drive, where we will traverse around the Pilanesberg in search of the Big 5 and other interesting species which inhabit the park.

Each night during our stay will culminate in a delicious meal and warming up around a fire.

Our final game drive will see us spending a few last hours observing, learning and exploring this great national park from the comfort of a safari vehicle. Topping off an exciting 5-day Pilanesberg experience will be our welcoming breakfast back at the lodge before we check out.
