Green operations
Shuma is powered by a hybrid system using an inverter as well as solar panels for each tent. Water-efficient devices have been fitted and wastewater is managed via an above-ground sewage plant to avoid contaminating groundwater. Energy-efficient lights and appliances cut power usage and only bio-detergents are used

OVERVIEW

Kafue National Park is remote but the Busanga Plains are remoter still. Known as the ‘plains of plenty’, they are fed by three river systems that produce plentiful grazing for herds of roan, sable, oribi and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest that, in turn, are grazing for lion, wild dog and cheetah. Nearly 500 bird species are found here including lifers like Fülleborn’s and rosy-throated longclaws.

Shumba is one of a handful of camps in this safari paradise and is named after a pride of lion that hold sway on the plains. Elevated tents give you a good view for game watching from your deck while seasonal boating, game drives and night drives make sure you have plenty of time in the bush.
